Gay Immigration Rights Task Force Australia
GLITF aims to achieve equality in the immigration system for gay and lesbian couples and assist couples making residency applications where one partner is not an Australian citizen.

Canada

LEGIT is a national organization that offers information, experience and support for same-sex couples who are in the process of immigrating to Canada.

France

United Kingdom

Love Exiles UK is a group of British-American gay and lesbian couples and Americans living in the UK with foreign partners.

United States

Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. An report on bi-national same-sex couples will be released shortly.

Immigration Equality
US group focusing on immigration issues for binational gay and lesbian couples, immigrants with HIV/AIDS, and sexual-orientation-based asylum seekers. The web site has information on the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA), which would enable gays and lesbians to sponsor their same-sex partners for US residency.

International Lesbian and Gay Human Rights Commission
The mission of IGLHRC is to secure the full enjoyment of the human rights of all people and communities subject to discrimination or abuse on the basis of sexual orientation or expression, gender identity or expression, and/or HIV status.

Love Sees No Borders is a web site dedicated to promoting awareness of the plight of same-sex binational couples in the United States.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights provides legal counseling to LGBT immigrants and same-sex binational couples. NCLR hosts free legal clinics and helped Immigration Equality draft the UAFA.

Partners Task Force for Gay & Lesbian Couples is an international resource for same-sex couples, supporting the diverse community of committed gay and lesbian partners.

Out4Immigation is a grassroots organization formed and run by volunteers who have all been affected by discrimination in the US immigration system.

An advisory service which gives guidance and practical advice to citizens on specific problems they encounter in the EU and its Internal Market.

National Solvit Centres
An on-line problem solving network in which EU Member States work together to solve without legal proceedings problems caused by the misapplication of Internal Market law by public authorities.

Recognition of Same-Sex Couples and Families

Dr. Kees Waaldijk
Dr. Waaldijk, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands, was the author of the first Dutch academic article on same-sex marriage in 1987. The article was used in the same-sex marriage test case that was decided by the Dutch Supreme Court in 1990. He served as a member of the Dutch Government's Commission of legal experts advising on the opening up of civil marriage to same-sex couples (1996/97). He wrote an affidavit for the Supreme Court of Canada, about marriage and partnership laws in across Europe.
