Dr.
Kees Waaldijk
Dr. Waaldijk, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Universiteit Leiden
in the Netherlands, was the author of the first Dutch academic article
on same-sex marriage in 1987. The article was used in the same-sex marriage
test case that was decided by the Dutch Supreme Court in 1990. He served
as a member of the Dutch Government's Commission of legal experts advising
on the opening up of civil marriage to same-sex couples (1996/97). He
wrote an affidavit for the Supreme Court of Canada, about marriage
and partnership laws in across Europe.
